Manage WL (Sort) by scanning pullback to EMA (ie, blue / red bars)

"Trader-X, I am plotting my Fibonacci lines from the previous day's close to the current day's open and it really presents a lot of opportunities. 2-minute timeframes are too fast for me, but I am having a lot of success on 5-minute charts. I especially like setups that break out of the Fibonacci lines as those tend to be the ones that run the most. For example, ASML earlier today; I entered at 11:40 and sold when it hit resistance at the next half dollar level for a gain of 2.5%. I think this is what you call your beyond the Fibonacci Extension setup, but I am not sure it follows your criteria exactly. I can usually find one a day like this or one that crosses back through the current day's open after a pullback. I really appreciate your posts and hope you continue to do so even if it is just a few times a month. Most blogs I read now are inspired by you, and you have done much to help many people. No Trades Today. Had Job Appt. However had I traded: PDE for -1R loss and TCK for 1.61 gain. Net .61R. Note SNDK was a beautiful Pattern, could have also traded.

Lessons Learned:

1 bar p/back ok if (1) -25% p/back, TB tag (touch) 5ema, Flag @ OR h/l, TB entry outside OR h/l, overall pattern bull/bear (lots of upp/lower tails)
Note +2 am r/a bars = need time to digest gains and TB must tag 5ema and nice when entry outside OR h/l (tend to be ext from ema anyway)
Screen stocks @ /near OR H/L

Lessons Learned

Best when TB is +/- OR h/l (not inside = more risk)
2nd bar = IB or cancel open order (note 2nd bar IB = enter bar, not just body)
+2 strong am r/a bars - need time to consolidate. wait for +2 bar p/back. Esp if offsetting upp/low tails
Chart pattern must be very obvious - and screaming buy! Not iffy
Sloppy = Roller coaster pattern, Avoid. P/back must be orderly and contained.
Watch 1/2 pt between 50% fib for stalling
Choice between Solid or iffy OR, chose solid
Analyze overall base for Wedges (hi hi lows)
Trade the NAz - watch for IB's
TB must be after a p/back, not extended run

Traded CL for .42R gain. 2nd opp after b/b = whipsaw. W/E 9/17 2.12R, Had I traded LH on mon for 2.12R, total for week = 4.21R or $1,264.00 gains

Lessons Learned

Trade what you see, not what you believe will happen!

Wl scan before 10.51am, wait for +3 bar to see if am r/a (ie, OR b/o set-ups)
If +50 WL scan, note other gaps not included (eg, had only 10 shorts on big gap-up day, so I was able to quickly look at for possible set-ups)
Qualify IB: eg, Hammer, Doji, NR7, Flag, etc. Note: IB must not equal WRB
Qualify Chart: Light p/back, OR, p/back (b/b), tag 5ema, PB (b/b), TB (Trader Am does!)
Grade Chart: A+ = Screaming buy (ie, no negatives)
Sloppy base = red, blue, red, blue, etc (avoid) - not orderly!
Copy & paste R&R excel math calc to chart for quick reference
Remember, once orders are in and trigger alarms set, walk away, do not obsess over price fluctuations ... will cause psychological stress! Goal is stress-free trading!
1/4hr to scan, 1.25 hr to screen = total 1.50 hrs trading each day. Unless by 11:00am, still screening for opps. Note, need to make +2 trades per day, so stay vigilant.
Keep churning WL for base & break and p/back

Stay focus. TWC was an 11.00 trade. Was about to give up at 10.30am cause Wl was very small

Traded TWC. B/B p/back with Ib TB. Hit 1R. Move stop to B/E and stopped-out
Liked FDX, but was very vot b/a +$.07. Also, violated OR h and p/back was very deep, but great FLAG below OR Low. Would have stopped me out for B/E.

After b/d, ETR had a blue IB and reversed. Should I have exited?

Double position on 2nd p/back entry?
After 2 trades, switch-off. Only monitor B/E (alert) and move stop to 1R

Do you want an idea? Look at 30-minute charts that break the opening range high, then pullback and consolidate with a textbook hammer at a key moving average. (OR b/o p/back)
I search for patterns that include bars narrowing in range - particularly after a wide-range bar(s) ......(flag formation)
In general, I look for stocks that are moving strongly, pause (or pullback to key areas), and set-up with narrow range or inside bars (discernible bar).

Why? Fastest racehorse (moving strongly in one direction) and set-up with narrow range (low risk) inside bars (pause)

The idea - after OR b/o, p/back, hit small resistance (like fib, R#), and regain momentum
Fib Target: prior day H/L to 10 min OR h/l (+1R trade)
Watch Round #, 50% areas for resistance
Draw T/L 10 min OR h/l
Watch for +2 bar p/back to am H/L
Goal is to catch 1st r/g NR bar above/below 10 Min OR
Best signal is PB has a lower/upper tail
Wait and Watch until 11 am!!!!!
Study these charts below and memorize! - Printout!
Set buy stop +/- $.05 (let the stock prove itself)
After all sell stop in place - shut computer down!

I traded CERN long today - the Fibonacci lines are plotted over the previous day's low (PDL) to the opening range high (ORH). It gapped up and pulled back to form a version of the "u-turn" setup (though sloppy). I actually entered as price found support at the 8EMA and moved back up through the ORH. My entry was on a break of the 15th bar's high, though there was some good entry points prior to that. Since price had already closed above the ORH and pulled back below it, I was bullish on the move back above and felt confident it would run to the FE. Price rallied from my entry and hit the FE a few hours later. Because price action was strong, I actually held for $88.00 and closed the position at that level (see my previous post about watching the "whole dollar" levels). CERN continued to rally, but I was happy with my piece of the action.

Nutshell

Fib = PDL to 10 min ORH (profit target)
Filled OR upper tail (overcame bearishness)
Closed above ORH (entry below ORH = resistance at ORH)
Pullback from OR high (= profit taking)
lower Tails on pullback bars (= bullish) - hammer-like
+2 red p/back bars = meaningful reversal
1st blue tag ema after orh b/o (note: the prior blue bar tag ema was not from a +2 bar p/back)
Entry below ORH (+1R to ORH for b/e exit if resistance)

My Daily Affirmation

My potential is limited only by my inability to buy and sell stocks! Day trading is my Business. This is the Job I choose. This is the way I must feed my family!

I had an early and great night rest. I am done with my daily exercises, and I am now revitalized to day trade. I face North to acknowledge which way is up. As such, I know I am in control!.
Greatness is the forgiveness of all who have trespassed against me, and humbly accepting my own limitations as the errors and mistakes of an ordinary human being. I admire most the humbleness of Mahatma Gandhi, and "I want to become the change I wish to see in the world". I give thanks to my wonderful wife and beautiful daughters for all of their support and admiration ... the single reason for my trading endeavors.
I think like an entrepreneur, I run a mom and pop retail business!. Everyday, I personally open the doors to Rudy & Rita Variety Store, (cptr log-in), dust and sort out my best merchandise (WL scan, hit list), and display my products to grab my customers' attention (open mkt orders). Today, our daily special is 2 men imported Italian business suits (perfect b/b Tail Flag), prominently displayed next to our cash register. The longer our merchandise remain on the shelf, the less valuable it will become! We can expect (1) No Sale (no set-up/order trig), (2) Deteriorating Merchandise (no trades, losses), or (3) Ka-Ching (cash sales)!.
Whatever I earn today is for the betterment of my wonderful family's prosperity and happiness. I plan to take the money I earn today, and travel to Disney Land, next weekend to celebrate Alana's Sixteenth birthday!
I must never forget that I am a Day Trader. This is my Job. Everyday I must buy and sell stocks. This is the "Turnover of Inventory" in my Business. Therefore, today, I promise to never hesitate, pass or miss a "screaming" bull/bear Tail pullback set-up! I will be very alert until 12.00pm, and I will act with supreme confidence and courage, because I have complete faith in my abilities. My goal today is to get at least one free ride, then detach myself, and let my computer go to work for me!
I know that scared money will never win this game! So I am absolutely willing to loose -$3,000 of my own capital to build my business, feed my family, and make a name for myself. Thus, I am absolutely prepared to loose 20 trades in a row! And I completely accept that I will have more loosing trades than winners today!
I am also prepared to loose -$133 (-2/3R) on 2 trades today, because I loose GOOD, and I am always WRONG very small. In addition, I am wrong until proven correct, and being wrong is what my business is all about. In fact, I keep my losses small, my trades swift, and I am very fast to exit a loosing position.
I know that I am running a marathon and not a sprint. I know that I want many base hits and I am not looking for home runs. I know this is a loser's game. I know the one who looses best will eventually win in the end. I have no expectations about winning, I simply trust in the law of probabilities!

This is not meant to be easy. In fact, it is suppose to be hard. If it were easy anyone could do it. Greatness is about sticking to my plan, following my rules, and not being afraid to loose. My potential is limited only by my daily refusal to buy and sell stock. As such, accepting and expecting looses is a big part of my overall winning strategy. Although, I expect to be a winning trader long-term, I accept the ups and downs in the short-term. Therefore, I accept that I will loose 2 trades everyday, and I am ready to loose 5 days in a row. I am mentally tough because I receive daily losses like a duck, it slides right off! It is but part of the game! In fact, it is what the game of day trading is all about! As such, I embrace my losses and I take pride in it, like the battle scars of a great warrior! I love trading even with its inherent flaws of hits, misses, mistakes, and losses, and it is this unique ability to accept daily bruises that gives me my TRADING EDGE!

My Trading Plan & Edge:

Completely screen am gap scan WL (means missing 3 bar set-ups, ie, push-thrus)
Fib and assign all stocks to specific WL (ie, key areas)
Screen for +2 bar p/back, and monitor for b/b tails! (need time to screen rotating wl every 10 mins, and identify b/b tail p/backs)
Determine intra-day +1R set-ups (if in OR and "perfect b/b tail set-up = prior day 10 min to or h/l fib) - at eod I am lucky if I can find a 1R trade
Move to Hit list - for stalking prior to 10 min bar exp (cannot anticipate on the cuff!)
Monitor for 1st r/g bar tag ema - TB. I want to catch the collision of ema and price, get in early, and fast. Not to chase stock when there is a higher risk of whipsaws!
Catch +2, 1R trades, 3x week! Idea is to do this consistently, and with a high probability (80%), then increase my bet size! This is my edge! (no diff than counting cards!)

Lessons Learned

In-OR + AM R/A set-up = prior day 10 min fib to OR h/l, 10 MIN
You're judging p/back bars for b/b tails, not momo bars
Bull /Bull = tails > wicks
One bar a change of trend does not make. You need a collusion of ideas!
Once strong bull tail, but bars keep going lower, still ok to trade if no bear wicks (uptrend)
No b/b, ie, neutral = b/b!
Textbook hammer tend to cancel negative wicks
Combo TB tend to cancel neg wick
PB hammer-like but red bar, and TB closed strong = enter
s/g nrb tag ema, and engulfs PB = enter (tend to fill-in wicks)
Ok to pass on trades that are not "OBVIOUSLY" b/b tails. Goal is to achieve an 80% win rate, and then press the bet, like a motherfucker! Entering @ -$500-$1000 Risk!!!

10-07 Trades

No Trades Today. Had to be in first 3 bars, or miss the train! My trading is to anticipate TB. Therefore (1) I must recognize +2 bar p/back at minimum, this means entry by 3 bars is nearly impossible since I am still busy with WL. (2) Must move +2bar p/back to Hit list, this means after I keep rotating WL, I must spot the 2 bar p/backwith b/b Tails, (3) now I am looking for 1st r/g bar tage ema. All this while I keep rotating and scanning wl for new set-ups

(TR netted +5.50R) WTF?

ORly (2.09R) - was a +75% engulf TB. 1 bar p/back. No bear tails. Probably since it was a 1 bar p/back not on hit list to anticipate TB!
AGCO (.57R) - was not on my wl.
EL (.78R/1.24R yest fib) - was on my wl. WHY DID I MISS?????? 1st blue tag ema, was very bull tails, am r/a p/back set-up. TB hammer! Had to use prior day fib!. Did I pass because it rallied form below fib and I expected it to stall at or/am high? Or because it was a 1 bar p/back and it seemed ext and need a long consolidation?

Interesting Observations: Yesterday, the only 2 bar p/backs was LNC and AMX, I traded LNC for a loss. Passed AMX because of cptr order status glitch. Today there was NO +2 bar p/back to trade! My system relies on (1) +2 bar p/back, so I can judge b/b tails (2) completely fibbing my WL to determine intra-day +1R set-ups, (3) Anticipating and moving s/ups to Hit List, and (4) stalking, soon as 10 min bar is to about to be completed. Why am I fighting my system? I cannot expect to enter (1) before 10:00, that is no 3 bar b/o, (3) completely fib and screen WL, and assign to Key areas WL, and (3) anticipate and stalk at the same time! So I still have faith in my sytem, I just have to be patience and wait for +1R intra-day fib opp.

My Trading Plan:

Completely screen am gap scan WL (means missing 3 bar set-ups, ie, push-thrus)
Fib and assign all stocks to specific WL (ie, key areas)
Screen for +2 bar p/back, and monitor for b/b tails! (need time to screen rotating wl every 10 mins, and identify b/b tail p/backs)
Determine intra-day +1R set-ups (if in OR and "perfect b/b tail set-up = prior day 10 min to or h/l fib) - at eod I am lucky if I can find a 1R trade
Move to Hit list - for stalking prior to 10 min bar exp (cannot anticipate on the cuff!)
Monitor for 1st r/g bar tag ema - TB. I want to catch the collsiosn of ema and price, get in early, and fast. Not to chase stock when there is a higher risk of whipsaws!
Catch +2, 1R trades, 3x week! Idea is to do this consistenmtly, and with a high probability (80%), then increase my bet size! This is my edge! (no diff than counting cards!)
Get a free ride (move stop to b/e after 1R, and let cptr go to work for me)
Be done trading before 11:00 am! Goal is to catch 1st $+ema collsion! This is my edge!

In a Nutshell

I am not done fibbing my stocks and completely screening my wl after 10:00 am
I then must see +2 bar p/back to judge b/b tails
Now I must anticipate 1st r/g tag ema and move s/ups to hit list
Yet keep rotating my WL scanning for new set-ups

TR Trades +5.50R. WTF?Was on my fib +/- Or WL. I did not see 1st red tag ema. Was not "anticipating" it! So not on my WL

Both came and tag my -2/3 Stop. Is my stop too tight - YES. S/B at TR = -.05 TB low. Note both stks 15 min chart = TR TB.
Missed a lot of engulfing TB b/o.
Tried hard to find a push-thru set-up but no luck.!
Note one bar p/back and tag ema - push-thru like set-up!!!!!!!!!

What happened today?

LNC was a good A grade trade.
SSRI was extended and probably needed more time to consolidate gains. But p/back bars were bullish tails, and Tb was textbook hammer
AMX I passed cause it was deep in-or and felt LNC was a better trade, since it was closer to OR high
QCOM, a push-thru, (b/e) - I completely missed!. Was in mid-pt Wl, but this wl was filed with other stocks. I did review am r/a wl for push-thru set-ups. So next time keep push-thru set-ups in am r/a list! Not mid-pt!!!!
APA, DIA, was a 1 bar p/back textbook hammer and 1st tag ema, But NEW RULES: 1 bar p/back is considered push-thru like set-up, enter if (1) PB - tail, (2) TB = textbook hammer/doji, (3) +75% engulfing body
Shorts: DXD, SH, BGZ. With so many gap-ups, I was focused on the long side. Also, These shorts would not be on my hit list cause they were all with BULL TAILS. NEW RULES: Watch for Engulfing BODY 1st r/g tag ema!!
Other than the above stocks, nothing else I missed!

No trades Today! Displayed my merchandise (set-ups), but no buyers (no trigger). In fact, today was a s/t-DV, 1 bar p/back, and long upp wick!. Some Tb was engulfing, But most went flat, sideways, while NAz was making new highs! The DV/ST bars held them back! Did like HOT as a wrb, pennant. But the previous p/back bars were bearish tails. If it did not set up properly on the get go, my feelings is not a good trade. Also, I like stalking a great set-up, (1) TB is 1st r/g tag ema!., or (2) WRB pennant, but only having stalked the stock for some time! Did not miss any perfect b/b Tail set-up! A No Sale Day (no orders trigger, no set-ups). None of the am r/a wl stocks were any of my set-ups! Did actively look for push-thru s/ups, but all were -1R

Lessons Learned:

Think like an entrepreneur!. Everyday, I open Rudy & Rita Variety Store, (cptr log-in), dust and sort out merchandise (WL scan, hit list), and display my products to grab customers' attention (open mkt orders). Today, our special is 2 men imported Italian business suits (perfect b/b Tail Flag), prominently displayed next to our cash register. The longer our merchandise remain on the shelf, the less valuable it will become! We expect (1) No Sale (no set-up/order trig), (2) Deteriorating Merchandise (no trades, losses), or (3) Ka-Ching!.
For b/b tail set-ups that b/o, and f/t but still in or, keep stalking and watch for b/b tail p/back and 2nd entry set-up!
The stocks that have perfect b/b tail flag set-ups must be put into a seperate WL. Stalk and watch for b/b p/back and strong TB
Engulfing TB is alwas a great TB
1 bar p/back but b/b tail and textbook TB - enter (+2 tail in a row) - see ctsh!
St-DV hold a stock back, esp with b/b tail - best to pass
When I get the perfect b/b Tail set-up - must learn to Press The Bet!
Do not draw intra-day fib. Takes too much time. Instead draw lines and guesstimate key areas
1st wl review, visyually estimate key areas and place in approprate wl. Goal is to complete wl review and start looking for push-thu set-up, asap. I can later, reposition key area set-ups to best WL.
If I Miss a perfect b/b Tail flag set-up and it p/back with b/b tails, enter!
Watch am r/a for p/backs and bull/bear tails!
Note 10 min prior day fib, is often less than intra-day 10 min fib (esp for am r/a bars +3)

CTSH miss opp? 1bar p/back, no bear wick, but +2 bull tail! However, hit 1R, and stop me out! Also, CTSH presented a nice 2nd opp (but .86R) on 2nd b/b tail p/back. Very imp to keep stalking perfect b/b tail flag, 2nd p/back opp!

No Trades Today. Was a gap down fade day. All my gap-up b/d. All gad-down had bearish wicks, so nothing stand out for a fade.

DID I MISS FIS? YES!. Was a 1 bar p/back. Was a gap-down fade day, so I was hesitant to go short! Would have liked a 2 bar p/back to actually tag ema! Note Tb was an engulfing bar.
Also I missed PEP! +3 prior bullish tails! TR will not trade because it will be too close to prior day fib? Will be on every day trader list!

Lessons Learned

Only look at naz 1st 3 10-min bars (copy and past chart) and DO NOT LOOK AT NAZ CHART AGAIN!!! FUCKS with my mkt bias and psy.
Use my WL rotation as a means for deducing naz trend. (1) Is mkt b/o and running, (2) gap-fade day, (3) WL rotation day, etc

Eg, today was a gap-down fade day, so I was actively looking for long set-ups! Unfortunately, (1) no gap -up f/t. Was even looking for Tb at or low, (2) no gap-down fade set-up - all had bearish tails, but reversed anyway!
Don't assume. PEP intra-day Fib was 1.87. But prior day Fib was already Tagged. WTF?

No Trades Today. Was a r/a p/back to or low and b/d day (short). Did not have the confidence to trade prior day fib tgt. Today was a day to make money. TR netted 4.50R profit.

Lessons Learned

Lost of stock b/o or low, p/back to or low and b/d again, ie, a r/a day. When you've a day like today with lots of am r/a set-ups, you know prob favors a trending day!
Biggest mistake today is trading yest mkt. My memory of yest is naz b/d became oversold and reversed. So I was focused on DISCA as a long set-up, expecting mkt to bottom and reverse. BAd Idea. Must trade what I see. FUCK the NAZ!!!!!!
The good news is that the b/b tail is a good way to asses the strength/weakness of p/backs. Both PAG and X was very bearish!

DISCA - I was thinking mkt is oversold and will rally. So I was very focused on this stock. But it reversed and b/d. When it b/d Tb low, should have known naz was b/d tight consolidation.
This was my 2nd option. Go with the flow, or betting on naz rallying. Yesterday, naz b/d and rallied. My short set-ups all rallied. So I was thinking contrarian and felt DISCA was a better play. Note the +2 p/back tail!Having passed on DISCA, PAG, my 3 rd choice was X. But I chicken and ran! My thinking was one of confusion. DISCA did not f/t. I was not happy I did not choose PAG. I felt X hesitant about trading prior fib tgt. I was thinking intra-day 10 min fib (when it had already tagged!). Notice the multiple tails! Down -$954.00, or -5.29R. Made 14 trades. However, on revist should have only make 4 trades! TR is up +5.25R. However, If I trade my new b/b tail set-up on 10 min charts stand a good chance to match his R's! Still have +$313 to trade to B/E!

9/30 Trade Analysis
No Trades Today, WHY? Naz had 2 extreme long bars, I felt since long wl was empty, best to focus on gap downs. However, naz was oversold and ready to bounce. However, did miss ADM (U-turn) and IBN, both longs! IBN would have b/e. Came back after 1R and stop me out! But still no excuse for not trading. Stop tracking Naz! Focus on gaps! Did not miss any set-up that was above/below mid-pt/fib.

Lessons Learned

Do not track naz (only 1st 3 bars) - trade the gaps!
Nice to be in tune with naz overbought/oversold trend, but best to focus and play the gap only!
Long tail need bull/tail p/back to offset!
The mkt had a bull bias when gap-downs are failing to f/t. The problem is I only learn after the fact
Trade only A set-ups and 10 min prior day fib as profit target!
Again, ignore momo bars tails. They will often leave tails on the p/back. Focus on the pullback b/b tails!
U-Turn plan to exit at am high/low! That is +1R!

TGT - B grade (was not happy with TB: not a textbook doji, combo, b/o, engulfing, or CS s/s). I liked the bear tails and was ready with open mkt order at 1st red TB, but never triggered. I was going to move stop to next red bar, Nr7/IB, but felt I need the wider stop to weather any pullback. It failed to b/d of this nr7/IB, and I cancel the order. I was thinking most day traders would pounce on this low-risk bar!
ADM - A Grade! A beautiful U-Turn set-up: (1) bull p/back, (2) never closed below OR low, (3) nice solid TB, plus a perfect hammer. But it was os deep in fib and mkt was very down, so I passed. Notice how it hit OR high and reverse!
IBN - A Grade: Another set-up I passed. It was very bullish, but I was emotionally attached to naz! Must only look at 1st 3 bars of naz, and stop tracking! It messes with my mkt bias. IBN would have b/e. Came back after 1R and stop me out!
Onxx a D grade - I was thinking 2nd red bar but 1st to tag ema was a missed opp. But mkt was hell bent to move up, and so did not f/t

The first shows my entry as price moved above the 61.8% retracement of the morning's range (I bought on a break of the 8th bar's high). The second shows my classic "Trader-X" exit at the 38.2% Fibonacci extension of the previous day's low to the OR high.

My DE trade today was like many others I have posted - I plotted my Fibonacci lines over the morning's range (first 3 bars), and entered on a break of the 5th bar high. The target was the 38.2% Fibonacci extension, and I sold at that point.

Textbook!

My Fibonacci lines are plotted over the early morning range (first three bars). STJ pulled back from the high to the 50% retracement and the rising 5MA, and rallied from there to hit the 38.2% Fibonacci extension. I wish I could find one of these every day. The entry was a break of the 7th bar high - a variation of Trader-X's "offsetting bars".

No Trades Today. Could not find a decent set-up. All had big S/T, DV bar and were all B grade!! Was a gap-up fade type of day! The trade of the day was MCO, a push-thru set-up (but 10 min ema was.20, 15 min .24). Was busy screening 60 stocks and did not really pay attention! 15 min Fib was 2.41R.

As 00nr7 said, "I am a gap-trader, not gap-fader!" Disappointing, I could not find a decent gap-down set-up today! (out of 58 stocks, only 4 gap-down)

Lessons Learned

Judge b/b tail as overall pullback bars, not just a single unit (unless, extremely b/b). Are the tails bigger than wicks?
TB must tag 10 min ema, if not will be ext on 15 min chart. Esp for -2 tiny bars p/back, always check 15min, exp if in mid-pt zone. Obj is to catch more meaningful p/back which will collide more with EMA, both 10/15 min charts
Be extremely wary of S/T, DV bars! Even if long tail! Tend not to f/t!
Charts today were sloppy, tailly, wide and loose! A good day for lots of w/saw!

As I analyze chart, mark tails and develop a sense of whats bull/bear! Watch for WRb, p/back and solid b/o
Remember, you judge b/b tail on p/back bars only, not momo bars!
It seems when mkt is +3Row, difficult to make money. WHY? Most stocks already ran and near fib tgt. The stocks that have not ran with the mkt are now laggards!. Best when stocks is obviously diverging from mkt, so that when mkt top/bot, it will explode and run!
The idea above should work for shorts, but I could not find any short set-up
Was hoping mkt would p/back and set up more trades!. But just keep going! Most stocks did not have a chance to p/back.
Watch near R# for +1 neg
Best when p/back tag s/r (mid-pt/fib) and move off
No missed +1R trades to post about
When analyzing tails deep in or (below fib), best to ignore RS and momo! And trade the gap!

Traded PM for -$114 Loss, or -.82R. I gave it a B for viol fib, and not taging. In hindsight should not have traded. WHY? Tail was mixed! No definite bull/bear Tail! Otherthan PM, no other set-up missed. For the month I lost -$954, or 5.29R, and 6 losses in a row!

Note: In re-analyzing actual trades for 9/09: Would have only traded 4 stocks, for -$34 Loss total. 3 grade A +1 B grade. And the B was not a Flag p/back (hi hi/lows). Trading only A grade will give me X hit rate of +80%. However, I must trade In-OR set-ups that reverse from OR h/l (not just above/below +50% fib) and Deep Fib p/backs (below OR h/l).

Lessons Learned:

Reverse Engineering Trading - grade D and Tb failure +2 neg
Relative Volume = +50D vol sort
Must grade each set-up, with A = no neg, B = bull/bear tail + 1 minor neg, C = Mixed Tail but 0 Neg. D = 2 neg, F = WTF?
Tail is for the p/back bars and TB
Before analyzing any chart, ask myself if tails bullish/bearish!
Only Trade A GRADE. However, B grade must be bull/bear Tail and one minor neg (no 1 bar p/back, s/t-DV, no exp PB)
Wicks must be smaller than Tails for pullback bars! = bull/bear tails!
Uptrend: Wick = top, Tail = Bot. Downtrend, Wick bot, Tail is top. TAILS must always be larger than wicks! And very Obvious!
Grade A +B = B/B tail! Always!
In-OR, reverse from OR h/l, Tgt = Fib!

No Trades Today. No set-up +1R, or +2 bar p/back tag ema. Personally, I don't think I know WTF I am doing. Time to call it quits and focus on other things! Enough of this bullshit! Time to start living! Fuck self-employment! Refinance and spend time with kids! +70 Trades last 5 months and nothing to show for it. Net $500, but this has to cover finance chgs.! Today was a short push-thru day, but all had lower tails, and not strong TB to offset negative tails

TR Said: I only had a couple of hours to watch the market today and no setups appeared that convinced me to trade. A lot of stocks had already moved to or close to the Fib Ext, so I left them alone. I think that maybe I need to have a look at lower timeframes on days such as today. As the biggest moves happen in first 30 or 45mins. So maybe looking at 5 or 10min charts may help as the 15min candles are too late and/or have already encompassed the main move of the day.

Traded TRV for -$161 Loss, or -.82R. Like the 1st blue tag ema and +70% engulfing body. But 15 min was very bearish! Why Did I not find another Trade?. Looked real hard but did not find anything!

keep stalking wrb, 1st tag ema, for nrb p/back set-up!

Don't think I miss any obvious p/back set-up, except Celg. Today seem more of a gap-down fade day (had +100 gap-downs). Did a good job avoiding sloppy set-ups, Exp PB, etc

Lessons Learned

In extremely strong TB and body engulfs PB (although PB is exp bar), still trade - see CELG
Watch am r/a for p/back. Completely missed MVL!
Engulfing body offsets exp PB!
Red hammer, trade 1st blue
exp PB but hammer-like - ok! But strong, engulfing body -like TB
Remember you're looking for 1st textbook hammer (however small) tag ema), but perfect coiled spring p/back (PB not exp)
Tails must be decisively bull/bear. If short and bot hammer, expect failure

I like EWC and had a stop order in but canceled on reversal bar.Not sure about this one. ! bar exp PB p/back.
I did not miss CELG. I just did not like the spinner PB with the upp tail. However, the strong/solid hammer-like Tb was very compelling! Besides it was an engulfing body!

Create seperate Wl for stock above/below OR h/l (esp fib p/backs)
In-OR set-ups = 15 min FIB, not intra-day!
WRB pennant is very strong signal. Must trade whenever I see them!
Deep Fib, while tend to stall at am h/l, still take trade! Do not rationalize! I can always exit at B/E, for a free ride!
Push-Thru trades? Don't think I am ready to trade by 10:00 am? Must work on this!
Don't be anal with key area tag. Once Tb moves-off and close +/- key area = ok!

Tail low longer upper = bear, etc
A preponderence of bull vs bear is what I am trying to achieve with the 7 step approach!

I search for patterns that include bars narrowing in range - particularly after a wide-range bar(s). (WRB: in-tail, pennant, momo)
In general, I look for stocks that are moving strongly (strong OR, am r/a +3 hi/lo row), pause (or pullback to key areas), and set-up with narrow range or inside bars (discernible bar).

"hammer-like" - I use this term to describe a candle that does not fit the classic definition of a "hammer" (see above), but has similar characteristics. For example, it may have a large real body and a long lower tail/wick. Or, it may have a small upper tail/wick. Or, the lower tail/wick may not be as long as it should be.

"gravestone doji's" - in my experience, are great bullish candles if they occur at support. My definition of a "gravestone doji" is a candle that occurs at the end of a downtrend, has a small real body and a long upper tail/wick, and almost no lower tail/wick (the opposite of a "hammer"). (shooting star for end of uptrend)

Excuses so far for not making money 9/09:

#1 Biggest mistake, not adjusting in-OR s/ups to 15 min fib profit target, thus missing lots of great trades
Passing on push-thru set-ups (although I am still busy screening wl @ 10.00 am and don't think it is entirely my fault)
Passing on mid-pt p/back +2 lo hi/lo but only 1 r/g p/back bar. that is missing the flag set-up!!
Failing to split fib into 2 wl (1) +/- OR h/l, (2) all else
Not taking advantage of deep fib, but very strong OR p/backs
Not stalking +2 bar p/back (flag, regardless if only 1 bar r/g), and then focusing on 1st r/g bar tag ema
Failing to see and take advantage of MOMO TB.
Passing on WRB 1st r/g bar tag ema. Failing to stalk for 1 bar p/back and 1st red/green f/t tb hugging ema (In-tail, Pennant, Momo)
Failure to trade piercing hammer/doji tag ema/key area h/l

No Trades Today! Did not see anything, or miss anything? No Fucking WAY! Lots of hammer bottoms! Passed on Har cause .04 b/a and vol was 350K (bot of wl). However, PB hammer, tightening p/back, hi low TB = momo trade!

09-17 Trades

Traded Stec and Bucy for -$201, or .95R loss. Stec was an nr7 off mid-pt, ema - never trade this set-up again = pause before the reversal. 2nd time pattern failed this week. Wait for reversal confirmation (Tb b/d PB low). BUcy was a reasonable set-up. WRB and f/t after 1 bar p/back. But nax did not f/t to NH. Today was a gap-up fade day. Did not review gap-fade wl for countertrend set-up. Having taken 2 losses in a row, did not want to tempt devil 3rd time! However, did not see well define counter trend set-up!

I missed a nice set-up in Via.B: strong OR, cs p/back, hammer bot, wrb tb, IB nr7, in-tail. However, did not f/t and tag fib!

Lessons Learned

Don't ever trade one bar p/back. Cannot assess action!!! Need a smooth, orderly, tightening p/back! (best when you can see & confirm on 15 min chart)
Pullback must tighten up at top/bot. That is at minimum 15 min coiled spring
WRB pennant, no wide bar p/back. 1st r/b s/b larger and hi hi lo (engulfing-like)
Nice when p/back bot has a hammer tail
NR7 tag mid-pt wait for confirmation
It seems more than 2 bar p/back is more riskier!
Watch for tails! top/bot! Esp before TB
1 bar p/back, but flag, only momo TB! Trendline b/o! See STEC!

Reason for +2 10-min bar p/back = 1 - 15min p/back

If it is not a Momo TB, must close strong = compelling!
Wait for confirmation (reversal bar) - do not jump the gun. 10 min bar = smaller bar than 15 min
Be wary of hammer/doji off key area. Ok if off ema. Piercing is best for key area
When in doubt, wait for momo TB
Deep Fib, expect to exit i/d fib whenever possible
